3. How do I connect the INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
You can connect the gateway with a network cable and a 5VDC power adaptor.
 
4. How do I setup the INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
In the INGENIUM® ZB mobile app, please scan the QR code in the product label to set up your gateway. You can rename the gateway and register a user account.
 
5. Can I control the INGENIUM® ZB gateway from multiple mobile devices at a time?
You can login to the gateway from multiple mobile devices. The INGENIUM® ZB mobile app must be installed on each device.
 
6. What is the maximum number of INGENIUM® ZB lamps / devices that can be connected?
You can connect up 200 devices in one gateway.
 
7. How close does the INGENIUM® ZB gateway need to be to the INGENIUM® ZB device?
The expected coverage is 10 meters, but the range is much expanded through mesh network.
 
8. Do I need to be connected to the Internet in order to control the lamps / devices?
When your gateway and smart devices are connected to the Internet via a network cable, Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G network, you can control your lights / devices anywhere.

INGENIUM® ZB gateway is compatible with Wide Area Network (Internet) and wireless local area network (Wi-Fi), it allows to fall back to local control when internet connection is failed. Besides, user can also use INGENIUM® ZB wall-mount controller or handheld controllers to control INGENIUM® ZB devices locally.
 
9. How do I add new devices to the INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
  1. Log into gateway as an administrator in using the INGENIUM® ZB mobile app.
  2. Go to the devices tab and press the “+” icon. The gateway is ready to pair new devices.
  3. Reset your devices according to their reset / pairing instructions.
 
10. How do I reset the INGENIUM® ZB lamps?
  1. Turn on the lamps for at least 4 seconds.
  2. Cycling the lamps off and then on within 2 seconds a total of four times. The lamps flash and indicate a successful reset.
If the above process fails to reset, you can switch one more on/off cycle which carries out the same reset process.
 
11. Why can I not find a newly installed lamp on the mobile app? Why can I not control the lamps via the app?
It means your lamp cannot make a connection to the gateway, for example, if it is powered off or out of range. Please try the following ways to fix the problem:
  • Check that power is supplied to the lamp. Try to switch off the lamp and then switch on again for re-connection; or
  • Fully close the mobile app and restart it; or
  • Reset your device and add it again to the gateway.
If the problem cannot be resolved, please contact your supplier for help.
 
12. Can I use INGENIUM® ZB lamps without any smart device?
As with other lamps, you can switch INGENIUM® ZB lamps with regular switches ON (100% luminosity with factory default setting or they will stay as the condition prior to power OFF) or switches OFF.

You can also use INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller or wall-mounted controller to control your INGENIUM® ZB lamps.

To make full use of the Smart Lighting options, please use your smart device, handheld controller or wall-mounted controller.
 
13. How do I reset or pair the INGENIUM® ZB 100W dimming modules?
  1. Turn on the lamps which has already connected to the dimming modules.
  2. Press and hold the button on the dimming module for 10 seconds.
  3. Then lamp should flash a few times, indicating a successful reset.
 
14. How do I reset or pair the INGENIUM® ZB 250W dimming modules?
  1. Turn on the 250W dimming modules for at least 4 seconds.
  2. Cycle them off and then on within 2 seconds a total of four times.
The LED indicator of the dimming module should change from flashing to light out, indicating a successful reset. Alternatively, you can press and hold the push button on the module for approximately 10 seconds, the LED indicator should flash at the beginning, and the speed of flashing will increase. After that, you release the button, the light of LED indicator goes out, indicating a successful rest.
 
15. How do I reset the INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller (ZBH02-BK)?
  1. Insert the batteries.
  2. Press and hold the scene button, button #3 and button #4 for 5 seconds.
  3. The LED indicator will flash and then light off, indicating a successful reset.
 
16. How do I reset the INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller (ZBH01-WH)?
  1. Open the battery cover and switch the slide switch to the upper position.
  2. Press “ALL OFF” button for 6 seconds until its LED light flashes.
 
17. How do I reset the INGENIUM® ZB wall-mounted controller?
  1. Press “ALL OFF” button and hold the button.
  2. Press “Brightness up” button and hold the button.
  3. Hold the buttons for 6 seconds until the LED light on ALL OFF button turns off.
  4. Release “Brightness up” button.
  5. Release “ALL OFF” button.
 
18. How do I connect the INGENIUM® ZB dimming modules (ZBM02d)?
  1. Connect the red wire of dimming module to the live wire of AC mains.
  2. Connect the white wire of dimming module to the live wire of lamps.
  3. Connect the neutral wire of lamps to the neutral wire of AC mains.
For electrical safety, it is recommended that you use a registered electrician to do any electrical installation work that you need.
 
19. How do I connect the INGENIUM® ZB universal dimming modules (ZBM01d)?
  1. Connect the brown wire of dimming module to the live wire of AC mains.
  2. Connect the red wire of dimming module to the live wire of lamps.
  3. Connect the blue wire of dimming module to the neutral wire of AC mains and the neutral wire of lamps together.
For electrical safety, it is recommended that you use a registered electrician to do any electrical installation work that you need.
 
20. Why can I not find a newly installed dimming modules on the mobile app? Why can I not control the dimming modules via the app?
It means your dimming module cannot make a connection to the gateway, for example, if it is powered off or out of range. Please try the following ways to fix the problem:

21. How do I configure the INGENIUM® ZB gateway to use LAN connection?
Plugging the LAN cable to gateway will automatically enable the network to be switched to LAN connection. The LED indicator flashes red color for successful connection.
 
22. How do I configure the INGENIUM® ZB gateway to use Wi-Fi connection?
  1. Power up gateway with LAN cable connection.
  2. Log into gateway as an administrator.
  3. Go to the Setting tab and press “Wi-Fi”.
  4. Gateway will scan the available wireless networks nearby. Choose the wireless network to be connected.
  5. Enter the Wi-Fi password and press OK to confirm.
  6. Unplug LAN cable from the gateway. It will automatically switch to Wi-Fi connection and LED indicator flashes blue color.
Due to various interior design, LAN cable is preferred than Wi-Fi connection in terms of better stability of network connection.
 
23. How do I add the INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller (ZBH02-BK) to the gateway?
  1. Log into gateway as an administrator in using the INGENIUM® ZB mobile app.
  2. Go to the devices tab and press the “+” icon. The gateway is ready to pair new devices.
  3. Take out handheld controller battery for 2-3 seconds.
  4. Press any one of button (1,2,3,4) while inserting the battery. Respective color status indicator lights up, and flashing for successful join in.
 
24. How do I add the INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller (ZBH01-WH) to the gateway?
  1. Log into gateway as an administrator in using the INGENIUM® ZB mobile app.
  2. Go to the devices tab and press the “+” icon. The gateway is ready to pair new devices.
  3. Open the battery cover and switch the slide switch to the upper position.
  4. Add the handheld controller (ZBH01-WH) to gateway by pressing “Brightness UP” for 3 seconds.
  5. You can find the handheld controller on your app, indicating a success process of adding it to the gateway.
 
25. How do I add the INGENIUM® ZB wall-mounted controller to the gateway?
  1. Log into gateway as an administrator in using the INGENIUM® ZB mobile app.
  2. Go to the devices tab and press the “+” icon. The gateway is ready to pair new devices.
  3. Add the wall-mounted controller to gateway by pressing “Brightness UP” for 3 seconds.
  4. You can find the wall-mounted controller on your app, indicating a success process of adding it to the gateway.
 
26. How can I be notified for firmware update?
The app notifies you when logging into the app. Tap "YES" to reach the gateway setup page. Then press "" button to start the firmware update.
Please be reminded to plug the USB flash drive into gateway before update process begins.
 
27. How can I transfer files for firmware update to the INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
  1. Plug in a USB memory drive to the gateway (one USB memory drive is given as well).
  2. Go to the “Setting” tab of INGENIUM® ZB App and press "Gateway".
  3. You can find the latest firmware version is ready for download, then press download button to execute.
  4. When the upper LED indicator flashes for 6-8 times, the light turns to stable and then goes out.
  5. The LED indicator flashes and the gateway downloads data from the USB memory drive. It takes about 5 minutes. After the light of the LED indicator turns to stable, the USB memory drive can be removed and the update process is completed.
 
28. How long does it take to install a software update on INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
The update process takes approximately 5 minutes, yet the actual time depends on file size and transfer speed of flash drive.
 
29. How many guest users can I add into an INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
There is no limit for the number of guest accounts created.
 
30. Can I use INGENIUM® ZB products without access to network?
Yes. You can use INGENIUM® ZB wall-mounted controller or handheld controllers to connect and control the lamps directly even there is no Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G network.
 
31. Can I still control INGENIUM® ZB products via smart device when the internet is failed to connect?
Yes, INGENIUM® ZB gateway is compatible with Wide Area Network (Internet) and wireless local area network (Wi-Fi). The gateway will fall back to local control when internet connection is failed.
 
32. Can I use INGENIUM® ZB products outdoor?
All INGENIUM® ZB products are only suited for indoor use only; however, you can use INGENIUM® ZB dimming module to connect with outdoor lighting for outdoor applications.
 
33. Can I use other power adapters for INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
Yes, you can use other power adapters for the gateway. Please ensure the power adapter has sufficient output (5V, 1A) for gateway's operation.
 
34. Can I use INGENIUM® ZB products with normal dimmer switch?
The INGENIUM® ZB products are designed for smart control; thus, it is not recommended to work with normal dimmer switch. You can use INGENIUM® ZB wall-mounted controller for same function with smart control.
 
35. After doing the setting for one INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller, can I share this setting with other INGENIUM® ZB controllers?
When you use INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller (ZBH02-BK), you can share the same setting to other handheld controllers. Simply pair one handheld controller with an ID (i.e. 1/2/3/4), then you can pair another handheld controller with the same ID to share the setting.
 
36. How many INGENIUM® ZB handheld controller (ZBH02-BK) can be connected to a INGENIUM® ZB gateway?
Each INGENIUM® ZB gateway is capable of 4 handheld controllers (ZBH02-BK). 4 individual ID (i.e. 1/2/3/4) can be assigned to each controller. Thus, you are able to assign scene and group settings to different remote controllers. In case you have to share same setting for two or more remote controllers, just simply use the same ID for them and their settings will become the same.
 
37. When few lamps are connected with one dimming module, can I still control the lamps individually?
If you want to control the lamps individually, separate dimming module is needed. You can consider to use INGENIUM® ZB lamps for individual control.
 
38. How can I disconnect a lamp from the gateway?
You can do that simply by resetting the lamp:
1. Turn on the lamps for at least 4 seconds.
2. Cycling the lamps off and then on within 2 seconds for a total of four times. The lamps should be at full brightness, indicating a successful reset.
 
39. How to reset and pair the INGENIUM® ZB universal dimming module (ZBM01d) if I do not have a wall switch?
You can disconnect supply to the dimming module by Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB) even if you do not have any wall switch. The way to reset and pairing depends on your locations of devices. When dealing with MCB, please ensure this is performed by qualified technicians.
 
40. Which device should I handle first if I buy all INGENIUM® ZB devices?
Please connect to the INGENIUM® ZB gateway as it communicates with all devices in the system.
 
41. Will the lamp light up after the connection of INGENIUM® ZB universal dimming module (ZBM01d)?
The lamp will only light up after the pairing of dimming module to the gateway.
 
42. What should I do when the system goes crashed or unstable?
When you doubt that the current Wi-Fi channel is being occupied by another device or gateway, you can:
  1. Go to “Setting” tab of INGENIUM® ZB App and press "Gateway"
  2. Select another channel (no. 11-26) to improve the signal transmission quality.
  3. Or use Wi-Fi analyzer apps to check out Wi-Fi channels in your room to avoid using similar frequency. For example, if you are using Wi-Fi channel 1 for wireless router, you are not recommended to use channel 11-14 for INGENIUM® ZB solution as they have similar frequency.
 
43. I have a INGENIUM® ZB Universal Dimming Module, but the dimming performance is not good, what should I do?
INGENIUM® ZB Universal Dimming Module is able to choose the dimming mode automatically for you. When you find the dimming mode does not suit your LED lamps, you can try the below steps to switch the dimming mode manually:

Auto selection mode (We recommend this mode if you are not familiar with leading-edge / trailing-edge dimming mode)
  1. Turn your lamp on for 4 sec
  2. perform 4 x on/off cycle
  3. The lamp will flash for 3 times and LED indicator lights up
  4. LED indicator lights up for success pairing

Leading-edge mode
  1. Turn your lamp on for 4 sec
  2. perform 5 x on/off cycle
  3. The lamp will flash for 4 times and LED indicator lights up
  4. LED indicator flash for 1 time for success pairing

Trailing-edge mode
  1. Turn your lamp on for 4 sec
  2. perform 6 x on/off cycle
  3. The lamp will flash for 5 times and LED indicator lights up
  4. LED indicator flash for 1 time for success pairing
